Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Technical Design / Project Engineer to deliver high-quality audio visual solutions across a range of projects in the UK and internationally. This role plays a key part in taking AV systems from concept through to installation, commissioning, and handover, working closely with project managers, installation teams, and third party stakeholders.
You will take ownership of the technical design process, producing accurate documentation and providing expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone motivated to develop their expertise and progress their career within a fast moving, technology driven environment, with support toward industry certifications.
• Produce detailed AV design documentation and system schematics using AutoCAD
• Coordinate designs with architectural, M&E, IT, and construction teams
• Review scopes and design intent to ensure systems meet client and end user requirements
• Create rack layouts, including power, heat dissipation (BTU), and serviceability
• Design bespoke metalwork (input plates, wall boxes, brackets, mounting solutions)
• Support installation, testing, commissioning, and witness testing activities
• Verify equipment compliance and suitability for each installation
• Provide technical support from design through to project handover
• Attend project meetings on site and remotely
• Assess project variations and provide clear technical recommendations
• Stay up to date with emerging AV technologies and industry trends
Skills & Experience
• Strong technical knowledge of professional audio visual systems and manufacturers
• Solid understanding of AV standards, best practices, and design methodologies
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (drawings, layouts, schematics)
• Good knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, and AV over IP
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong problem solving and fault finding ability
• Highly organised with experience managing multiple projects
• Confident using Microsoft Office; Visio experience is beneficial
Desirable
• Experience delivering projects across corporate, education, healthcare, or large scale commercial environments
• A collaborative mindset with a focus on quality, consistency, and continuous improvement
