Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior AV Technician to take ownership of AV services within a professional corporate environment in Birmingham.
This is a largely standalone, client-facing role, providing hands-on support across meeting rooms, collaboration spaces and corporate events.
You’ll be the main onsite AV contact, responsible for troubleshooting technical issues, supporting users and ensuring AV systems remain operational and ready for use. The role offers plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to help improve and develop the onsite AV service.

Key Responsibilities
Onsite AV Support
• Act as the main onsite contact for AV and meeting room technology.
• Provide first and second line technical support across the site's AV and Unified Communications systems.
• Diagnose and resolve faults across audio, video, presentation and collaboration technologies.
• Support Microsoft Teams Rooms and associated meeting room systems.
• Assist users with connectivity, presentations and general AV requirements.
• Take ownership of technical issues and ensure they are followed through to resolution.
• Escalate more complex faults to specialist engineering teams when required.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, requests and completed work.

Meetings & Events
• Provide technical support for meetings, presentations and corporate events.
• Support senior and executive users with business-critical meetings.
• Prepare and test AV spaces ahead of important meetings and events.
• Assist with hybrid meetings, town halls, livestreams and internal broadcasts.
• Support larger presentation and event spaces alongside standard meeting rooms.
• Coordinate with internal teams, technical specialists and external suppliers where required.

Service Management
• Take day-to-day ownership of the AV service across the Birmingham site.
• Manage multiple support requests and prioritise work according to business requirements.
• Coordinate additional engineering, project or event resources when specialist support is needed.
• Maintain communication with relevant stakeholders regarding outstanding issues and service performance.
• Ensure technical requests remain actively managed through to completion.
• Maintain AV documentation, room information and operational records.

AV System Checks & Maintenance
• Complete regular checks of meeting rooms, collaboration areas and event spaces.
• Ensure priority rooms are operational and prepared for daily use.
• Proactively identify faults before they impact meetings or users.
• Monitor the general condition and performance of AV equipment.
• Coordinate remedial or engineering work where necessary.
• Identify recurring technical problems and recommend appropriate improvements.

Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve AV reliability and the overall user experience.
• Provide feedback on recurring faults and service trends.
• Support AV upgrades, technology refreshes and new system deployments.
• Contribute to service reporting and operational updates.
• Help ensure the AV environment continues to meet changing business requirements.

Customer Service & Stakeholder Support
• Build strong relationships with users and stakeholders across the organisation.
• Provide a professional, approachable and responsive technical service.
• Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical users.
• Develop an understanding of how different teams use meeting and collaboration technology.
• Maintain a high standard of customer service at all times.

Health, Safety & Compliance
• Follow all relevant onsite Health & Safety procedures.
• Work in accordance with information security, cyber security and data protection requirements.
• Maintain safe working practices when operating, checking or supporting AV equipment.
• Follow established site procedures and operational standards.

Experience Required
• At least three years' experience working within corporate AV support or a similar professional environment.
• Strong experience supporting meeting room and collaboration technologies.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams Rooms and Unified Communications platforms.
• Strong first and second line AV troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
• Experience supporting corporate meetings, presentations and events.
• Comfortable working independently within a client-facing environment.
• Ability to take ownership of technical issues and manage them through to resolution.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities within a busy environment.

Technical Knowledge
Candidates should have a good understanding of:
• Corporate meeting room AV systems
• Microsoft Teams Rooms
• Unified Communications and collaboration technology
• Audio and video systems
• Displays and presentation technology
• AV signal flow and troubleshooting
• Basic AV networking principles
• Hybrid meeting and conferencing technology
Experience with technologies such as Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Cisco or similar professional AV platforms would be beneficial.

Desirable Experience
• CTS or other relevant AV industry certification.
• Previous experience working within a managed AV service.
• Experience supporting hybrid events, livestreaming or corporate broadcasts.
• Experience working as the primary or sole AV technician at a corporate site.
• Exposure to AV projects, system upgrades or technology refresh programmes.

The Opportunity
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced AV Technician looking to move into a position with greater ownership and autonomy.
You will have responsibility for the onsite AV service while still having access to wider technical resources when more specialist support is required.
The role would particularly suit someone who enjoys combining hands-on AV support, customer service, meeting and event delivery and proactive service improvement within a professional corporate environment.
