Job Description

We are recruiting an experienced Regional Technical Estimation Manager to join a leading international audio visual solutions provider based in Birmingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded AV professional to take ownership of regional technical estimating activities while providing technical account management support for a major client.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing technically sound, commercially competitive AV solutions, overseeing quotation processes and ensuring projects are supported from initial concept through to delivery.

Working closely with sales, engineering, design and project delivery teams, you will help maintain high technical standards, strengthen client relationships and support continued business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Estimation & Commercial Management

Oversee regional AV estimating activities, ensuring quotations are accurate, competitive and delivered within agreed deadlines.

Prepare detailed project estimates covering equipment, engineering, labour and installation requirements.

Maintain oversight of the regional estimating pipeline, managing priorities, workloads and quotation progress.

Collaborate with sales teams to develop commercially viable technical solutions that meet client requirements.

Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers, distributors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and technical support.

Identify opportunities to improve estimating procedures, quotation accuracy and commercial performance.

Keep up to date with emerging AV technologies, products and industry developments.

Technical Account Management

Work alongside the Account Manager to provide technical guidance and support for a key client account.

Develop and specify AV solutions in line with established client standards and operational requirements.

Design bespoke AV systems for projects requiring more complex or specialised technical solutions.

Produce technical proposals, equipment specifications and commercial quotations.

Collaborate with design engineers to review technical drawings, schematics and system documentation.

Participate in regular client meetings to discuss project progress, upcoming opportunities and technical challenges.

Provide technical assistance to Project Managers throughout installation and project delivery.

Ensure effective communication and continuity between sales, design, engineering and delivery teams.

Team Development & Operational Support

Support the professional development of team members through technical training and knowledge sharing.

Identify skills gaps and contribute to ongoing training and development initiatives.

Promote efficient working practices, technical consistency and high standards of service delivery.

Manage competing priorities while maintaining project deadlines and commercial objectives.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience in technical estimating, AV systems design, technical management or a similar position within the professional audio visual industry.

Strong understanding of integrated AV technologies, system components and installation requirements.

Experience producing technical quotations, equipment schedules and commercially competitive proposals.

Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings and project requirements.

Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of project costs, labour requirements and supplier pricing.

Experience working collaboratively with sales, engineering and project management teams.

Confident communicating technical information to clients and internal stakeholders.

Excellent organisational, problem-solving and time management skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong customer service skills and a proactive approach to building professional relationships.

Desirable Experience

Knowledge of leading AV control and integration technologies, including Crestron, Extron and AMX.

Familiarity with audio DSP, video conferencing and networked AV solutions.

Experience supporting large corporate or enterprise AV installations.

Previous experience managing technical teams or coordinating regional estimating functions.

Familiarity with SAP or similar business management systems.
