Job Description
We are searching for an AV Conference Manager who will be responsible for the successful delivery of the Events across two venues in central London. The Conference Manager forms part of the senior leadership team and this team will be responsible for the effective management of a team of AV and Event professionals in delivering 5* events.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:• Lead and manage the Event and AV operatives to deliver consistently exceptional events for internal customers and their clients.
• Manage the Event and AV operatives to successfully deliver all aspects of their Job Descriptions and roles.
• Train, coach, mentor, and succession plan your direct reports to achieve their full potential in line with the company’s vision and values.
• Carry out annual appraisals in a timely manner with all direct reports and produce development and improvement plans that are followed through.
• Deliver in house AV and Events training to your teams.
• Recognise and reward exceptional performance, encouraging an engaged and motivated team
• Proactively communicate with all your direct reports on a frequent basis both verbally and in writing implementing new service ideas, new systems, policies, and procedures together.
• Ensure weekly team talks are held and that the team are provided with all relevant updates.
• Assume responsibility for recruitment in line with company policies.
• Responsible for on-site induction and probation of employees in line with company policies.
• Work with the AV Supervisors and Event Assistants to effectively plan team resources, to prepare for and maintain cover for each Event.
• Manage team holiday bookings, unplanned absences, and rotas to ensure maximum cover and support across the year
People/ Interpersonal Skills
• An excellent communicator to colleagues and clients at all levels
• Able to handle complaints and difficult situations in a calm and responsive manner
• Flexible, decisive and a quick-thinking approach to work
• Proactive and in possession of creative and strategic thinking skills
• An inspiration to direct reports and those working around you
• Immaculate personal presentation, supporting the brand and image of the Team
• This role requires a minimum of 40 hours per week. However, to meet business needs and client requests, flexibility should be available to work hours necessary to ensure completion of objectives and performance standards
• A willingness to travel to Regional offices to participate in training and coaching
• A good eye for detail and a desire to take responsibility, through to resolution, for issues and concerns generated by our customers
• To be able to respond to multiple requests and at times work under pressure to ensure customer requirements are met
• Able to promote and lead change
• Able to lead a diverse workforce
Experience
• A minimum of 3 years Corporate Event experience, inclusive of AV services
• A minimum of 2 years leading, motivating, and developing a team
• Excellent project management skills
• A high level of written and spoken English, with excellent business writing skills essential
• Proven experience in technological workplace solutions
• Experience in growing event revenue within corporate/commercial environment
• Experience in marketing and promoting event spaces to increase utilisation
• Exposure to different event environments and experience in delivering high profile events
• Commercial and market awareness in the event industry
• Understanding of service level agreements and key performance indicators
• Experience creating and delivering presentations for high profile events
Knowledge
• Proficiency in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel is essential
• CTS certification advantageous
• Room booking and visitor management knowledge
• Technical knowledge of audio-visual equipment including video conferencing essential
• A good understanding of sound, vision, screen types and lighting desks
• Audio and visual signal types and cabling connection knowledge
• Good understanding of Packet Switch Networks & IP Technology
• Good understanding of wi-fi technology
