Job Description
The Project/Category Buyer is responsible for buying equipment and products for use in company projects and within the business. The role is a fulltime office-based position and is accountable to the Procurement Manager.
The main duties of the Project/Category Buyer are:- Purchasing against Projects (as and when assigned)
- Follow up on existing orders to ensure goods are shipped and delivered on promised dates
- Processing orders
- Work closely with our clients logistics team to ensure supply only goods are dispatched immediately
- General Admin ie. maintain purchasing records within job files, shipments and other related matters
- Support and assist with invoice queries
- Price list management
- Act as Category Manager for consumable products, Define, Monitor and Develop the range liaising with Projects & Ops teams.
- Maintain stock levels of consumables ensuring no stock outs and conversely reduce overstocking
- Monitor and pro-actively reduce inventory of free-stock items
- Regularly circulate free-stock lists to the design and sales teams
- Purchasing office stationary
- Plan and manage the perpetual inventory count process, completing a complete cycle count each quarter (i.e. 4 per year)
- Report and investigate losses and gains
- Manage End of Life (EoL) products, ensure items are returned to supplier in a timely manner
- Ensure faulty products are returned to supplier for full credit, keeping a log of faults in the AX non-compliance system
- Monitor damaged product, keep an AX non-compliance log of damages, which site, PM’s and Installation teams to identify patterns
The Project/Category Buyer should have the following Skills/Qualities:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX system (or similar ERP/CRM System)
- Good communication skills
- Good Negotiation skills
- Ability to work to Project deadlines
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner both with internal colleagues and suppliers
- Excellent time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Familiar and confident with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Team player and the ability to multitask
