Job Description

Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Head of Technical Services to oversee and evolve their technical operations. This senior leadership role demands in-depth expertise in large-scale professional audio systems and installations, a solid grasp of IT infrastructure, and a strong track record of leading and supporting high-performing teams in a growing environment.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of technical services across the company and act as a key technical authority for both internal teams and external clients. You’ll also play a vital role in shaping the direction of our product research, working directly with the team on product development, testing, proof of concept, and support.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and expand the technical service team, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture.
• Oversee the design, maintenance, and support of audio systems for productions, rentals, and system integration projects.
• Manage all internal and external IT systems and infrastructure (networking, servers, software licensing, backup systems).
• Serve as the senior technical authority, providing expert guidance and troubleshooting for advanced audio systems across live productions and rental sectors.
• Develop and implement technical workflows and support protocols to ensure excellent client service.
• Collaborate with key manufacturers on technical issues and advances.
• Work closely with the R&D team to design, prototype, and test new products and features.
• Liaise with other departments and clients to scope, support, and deliver projects to the highest technical standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and team capability.

Essential Skills & Experience
• 5+ years in a technical audio or systems engineering role.
• Advanced understanding of professional audio technologies (digital consoles, wireless systems, etc.).
• Strong understanding of professional communications technologies (Clear-Com, Riedel, etc.).
• Experience with IT infrastructure management (Windows and Mac server environments, networking, cybersecurity basics).
• Proven experience managing or mentoring a team.
• Excellent communication skills with a solutions-oriented mindset.
• Ability to work under pressure and solve complex technical issues quickly.
• A positive, proactive attitude and an ability to lead by example.
• Knowledge of industry-standard software like Dante, QLab, AutoCAD, or Vectorworks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred (But Not Essential)
• Experience in the live events, theatre, or broadcast sectors.
• A degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer System Engineering, or similar.
• ITIL certification or other formal IT infrastructure credentials.
• Familiarity with coding in C or C++ (Qt framework experience is a bonus).
