Job Description
Our client is searching for an AV Infrastructure Manager support the design, development, production and maintenance of AV-based visitor experiences, as well as a side range of services for departments across several sites.
This includes the installation and maintenance of extensive in-gallery AV equipment and the provision of AV services for a variety of events and activities. AV Infrastructure Managers will be expected to be able to work across all of the London branches as well as contribute to projects across all of the IT team’s output.Overall purpose of job
Reporting to the AV Infrastructure Team Leader, the post has three core responsibilities:
• Provide technical support and maintenance of the AV infrastructure throughout the museum’s public facing spaces, including galleries, event spaces and learning facilities.
• Manage the technical delivery and development of assigned AV projects, including the installation of both temporary and permanent galleries.
• Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the current AV infrastructure, producing system specifications and taking a proactive approach to the upgrading and development of existing and new exhibition AV content.
AV Infrastructure Managers will be expected to proactively undertake work including: branch advocacy, exhibitions services support, management and provision; hardware procurement; providing advice on the use of budgets. The AV Infrastructure Managers support the museums seven days a week, including events, so weekend work and occasional evening work is expected.
The nature of the tasks and inherent responsibilities are liable to change, as the role and the structure of the department change to respond to key project priorities and objectives over time. The job and its role will be subject to annual review and any adjustments in the role will be discussed and agreed with the post holder.
Key duties
You will be expected to work independently as well as across different teams in order to contribute to and deliver the priorities of our client - using your knowledge, skills, talent and potential to the best of your ability.
You will focus at all times on delivering excellent customer service, ensure value for money at all times while being professional, courteous and demonstrating the behaviours and attributes expected of all employees. You will also adhere to all corporate standards, and use corporate systems as directed to ensure consistency of service, brand and operational standards.
You will be expected to work across departments effectively, working with individuals, partners and where appropriate volunteers. To identify and implement learning and development needs for both yourself and your team, including volunteers, if appropriate.
You will be expected to comply with corporate standards, and use corporate systems, processes and procedures– and undertake any necessary training as directed.
Working with the IT Infrastructure team, you will assist in the identification and implementation of network infrastructure technical options, identifying resource requirements for AV systems.
In addition, your duties will include:
• Daily testing of the museums AV systems, undertaking work to address faults as applicable.
• Undertake planned preventative maintenance to maintain acceptable levels of AV services in galleries
• Represent and manage technical delivery on assigned special projects. This includes overseeing technical specifications, scheduling, procurement, installation and timely delivery.
• Utilise the IT Service Desk to monitor AV support requirements across the site which will inform future planning.
• Liaise with and occasionally manage maintenance suppliers, external contractors and third parties before and after installation as applicable.
• Manage and/or support internal and corporate events, including the operation and installation of PA, presentation and other AV event infrastructure within all branches.
• Liaison with the facilities management team in furtherance of AV systems efficiency.
• Audio and visual media editing for exhibition and other purposes.
• Assisting the creation of new exhibits alongside the AV Production team.
• Adjust working pattern to cover evening and weekend events as required.
• Responsible for complying with all relevant health and safety legislation with a view to ensuring the safety of staff, visitors and themselves; with particular attention being given to manual handling procedures. To report immediately potentially hazardous conditions to line management.
