This direct opportunity looking for an AV manager. The manager will be working for a prestigious cultural venue and will lead on improvements to exhibits and manage the multi-skilled technicians who maintain them. Main Responsibilities:
• Leading a team of 6 technicians, developing their skills, building a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing and raising the profile of the team.
• Ensuring the day to day operational requirements of the museum are covered, including switch-on and event cover. Maintaining a long-term plan for preventative maintenance across the galleries.
• Leading on upgrade projects ensuring galleries and presentation spaces are fit for purpose. Championing improvements to gallery systems to enable new and legacy systems to work together.
• Managing relationships with key project teams, ensuring Gallery Services are involved at the start of each project and enabling the lead technician to help shape the design of new galleries and exhibitions.
• Collaborating with other technical teams to share best practice and identify joined up ways of working.
• Working closely with the other 2 Gallery Services managers and coordinator to plan operational and project work. Support the wider team as required ensuring the museum is switched on each day and daily activities are covered.
• Taking care of your personal health and safety and that of others. Complying with health and safety policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work and reporting any health and safety concerns.
Essential skills/experience:
• Have strong, demonstrable, experience working with AV and IT systems within an operational team.
• Be a great communicator and have experience of people management, able to get the best from your team, developing their skills and managing performance.
• Have experience of delivering installation and maintenance work in public spaces.
• Have experience of managing contractors and an understanding of H&S regulations.
• Be engaged with developments in technology and able to identify opportunities for improvements.
• Have a willingness to uphold high standards of health and safety practice and challenge those who do not conform to those levels.
Desirable skills/experience:
• Hold a technical degree and/or AVIXA CTS qualification.
• Have knowledge of coding, electronics or electro-mechanical systems.
Additional Information:
• Occasional visits to other sites may be required to support national projects.
• This is a full-time post at 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday starting between 7:30am and 9:00am depending on support required.
• Evening work will be required from time-to-time to support events, major out-of-hours jobs or peaks in demand, such as gallery installations.
